Lowering the gaze protects one from the evils of the self and helps in attaining inner peace . Constantly looking at forbidden things plants desires in the heart, leading to restlessness and distress , which may eventually lead to destruction .
The eye is the mirror of the heart; if a person lowers his gaze, his heart will be purified. But if he lets his gaze wander, his heart will be corrupted. _Ibn al-Qayyim
May Almighty Allah keep us steadfast on His path, help us guard our eyes, and forgive all our shortcomings. Ameen!
